AS1170.2 Debris Impact
OmniTest’s Debris Impact Cannon is designed to test windows, doors, and screens for their resistance to windborne debris in cyclonic environments.
Testing is conducted in accordance with Australian Standard AS1170.2:2021 Structural design actions and utilizes methodology outlined in Design Guidelines for Queensland Public Cyclone Shelters.
Two projectiles are used in the testing method:
- Test Load A: a 100mm x 50mm cross section piece of timber of 4kg mass impacting end-on at 0.4 x V10,000 for horizontal trajectories. Debris test Load A shall impact the most critical locations of the specimen.
- Test Load B: five random impacts of an 8mm diameter steel ball of 2 grams mass impacting at 0.4 x V10.000 for horizontal trajectories. Debris test Load B shall impact at various random locations of the specimen.
