Security Screen and Grille Testing

AS5039 / AS5041

OmniTest is NATA accredited to test security screen doors and windows to Australian Standard AS 5039 Security screen doors and security window grilles

Methodology

The methodology, conducted to the requirements of AS 5039, are outlined in Australian Standard AS 5041 Methods of test – Security screen doors and window grilles.

OmniTest has quality security test rigs that are specially designed to fulfill the capabilities of the following tests:
  1. Dynamic Impact Test: The dynamic impact test produces 100 Joules of energy and simulates the effect that human impact would have on the infill of the door or window.
  2. Jemmy Test: Determines the resistance of the screen door or window to a specified level of force produced by a lever. Attacking points on the door or window are locks and hinges
  3. Pull Test: Determines the resistance of security screen windows and doors with infill to specified levels of pull forces. This is simulated by the application of direct force using a cable and winch. Different angles and different levels of force are applied
  4. Probe Test: Determines the resistance of the security screen door or window to a specified level of attack using a probe. This is simulated by allowing opposing forces to be applied to the chords of the infill material and attempting to separate them enough to allow access for a hand or arm
  5. Knife Shear Test: Determines the resistance of security screen doors and windows to a specified level of attack by a heavy-duty trimming knife. This is simulated by allowing a standardised shearing tool to be run over the infill a number of times under a constant force. (Not yet available, but will be in the future)
